Mark Roberts

Mark Roberts (b. 1970) is an English visual artist based in northern Finland. He studied multimedia and photography first in London and then at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design, Farnham where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in 1999. In 2008 completed an MA in Film Scriptwriting at the University of Salford, Greater Manchester, UK.

Roberts works mainly with video installations, photography and live sound installations.  He has also been active in producing different clubs and festivals, such as Rovaniemi’s Kaiku Festival for experimental sound and video art.

He is currently working on a series of video works which explore the relationships and tensions that exist between landscapes and societies. These new works focus on the hidden histories or social conflicts that exist within apparently ‘innocent’ or ‘natural’ landscapes.
